THE GOD OF THE BIBLE IS THE PROPONENT OF REAL ESTATE
By Mark Ferry John A. Lamsen, 05 March 2025
I have always believed that, despite the numerous seminars you attended, the brilliant tips being provided by so-called successful real estate sellers (“champion salesmen”), and various activities you endeavored to do to apply all these seminars and tips, all these will NEVER HAPPEN simply because the knowledge and information you obtained from these sellers and salesmen NEVER really originated from them, actually.
It all came from God. And I am not only saying that God is the source of the knowledge – God Himself started it all! The process, the information, the activities – all patterned from what God, the Creator of everything, has actually did, and has been doing!
Here’s proof.
First, God CREATED (“developed”) the heavens and the earth. Earth alone is the main part of any real estate. He created it firsthand, long before any real estate developer was formed to do concreting and road pavement. God Himself is the developer, of the whole universe.
Second, He created the earth’s first amenity, the garden – the Garden of Eden. All fruit-bearing and non-fruit bearing plants and trees are there. In real estate parlance, amenities are being created by developers to make the whole subdivision or condominium project attractive to people, offering them quiet living and not just boxes of houses. In the Garden of Eden, the first couple, the first humans, were placed in that great amenity simply to live and eat all the time – more than just quiet and serene living.
Third, normally in a real estate project (subdivision or condo tower), there is this so-called deed of restrictions. This deed details the rules and regulations (“limitations”) of living in that place, such as no pets allowed, limited operational time of fitness centers and sports facilities, no-smoking areas, prohibition against littering in common areas such as hallways, limited number of people per elevator car, etc. Well, God Himself did the first restriction in the Garden of Eden – “'You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die” (Genesis 3:3 NIV).
Fourth, God did the first EVICTION. When the first couple violated the lone restriction He imposed in the Garden (nag-iisa na nga lang, hindi pa sinunod), He expelled them from the Garden (Genesis 3:23). Violating the restrictions set forth by the developer is indeed grounds for eviction, even if you are a legitimate homebuyer, per Supreme Court decision (G.R. 123552, Twin Towers vs Court of Appeals, February 27, 2003).
Fifth, God did the very first FORECLOSURE. After evicting the first couple from the Garden, God locked in the said place and placed the mighty cherubim (Genesis 3:24 NLT), guarding the way to the tree of life (Gen. 3:24 New American Bbile). Typically, when you fail to pay the outstanding loan for your home mortgage, proceedings are being undertaken by the bank to foreclose your home and they will regain possession of the said property, locking it and placing a caretaker/guard to prevent you from entering that home again.
Sixth, God is the very first One to do the so-called “pre-selling project”. A “pre-selling project” simply means a real estate project that has been carefully crafted, whose plans were approved in detail and licenses and government permits were already secured, and will then be offered to the market PRIOR to actual construction. In subdivision housing, agents would look for buyers to invest in a subdivision project although the houses are yet to be constructed – nothing is there on the project site yet. Buyers literally have no idea what the subdivision project will look like, but they are being convinced to look forward to the it, as promised by the developers. The term “pre-selling” is a shortened word for “pre-construction selling”, a legitimate practice for real estate developers, so long as the all the required permits and licenses have been secured.
At least thrice in the Holy Scriptures, God Himself did this pre-selling activity. The first one is when He called Abram (later called Abraham) to get out of his parents’ country to go to the land that God will show him (Genesis 12:1). Please take note that Abram has yet to see that land, but God promised to bless him and make him a great nation (Gen. 12:2). In effect, God “sold” the “idea” to Abram and the latter obeyed, going to the land that is literally nothing there yet, but held on to the promise of the Creator (the developer of everything).
The second one is when God sent Moses to lead the Israelite nation to the land of milk and honey (Gen. 3:17) – a promised land that is yet to be seen even by Moses himself, but they are promised by no less than the Creator.
The third one is when God sent His Own Son, Jesus Christ, and the latter proclaimed that the “Father’s house has many rooms” (John 14:2) and that He will prepare it, after which He will come back to take His people to Himself and bring them there (John 14:3). It’s a promise made by the Son of the Creator, we are yet to see it (concept of pre-selling), but we are being encouraged to look forward to that promise, to that plan made by God Himself.
Seventh, typical real estate companies create new developments based on their experiences from their past projects. But before this became the habit of these developers, God Himself did it first. Based on what happened to the current world that we live in, He said that He will create a new heaven and a new earth (Isa. 65:17) – the same place Jesus called “Father’s house” (John 14:2).
Eighth, any project proponent would normally establish a real estate development company that customers will go into to avail of the proposed/promised house or condo unit. Such company would then assess customer’s capability to purchase a unit (especially those under installment terms and under bank financing/loan). Once oriented with rules and obligations, a customer will painstakingly pay the due amounts in good faith, even if it takes months or years of installments to pay and fulfill all requirements. After everything has been settled and fulfilled, only then can a customer enjoy residing in the house or condo unit he purchased.
In the very same logic, God sent His Son, and Christ established a church (Mat. 16:18) which is His body (Col. 1:18) and the one He will save (Eph. 5:23), a church named after Him (Acts 20:28 Lamsa) and the one whose people will “avail” the new heaven and the new earth (Rev. 21:1). For one to avail “a room” in the “Father’s house” (John 14:2) – typical to availing a house or condo unit – one must go into that church (“company”) – entering the fold or flock (John 10:9 Revised English Bible) and be indoctrinated with pristine biblical doctrines (Mark 16:15-16), similar to “be oriented with rules and obligations”. After painstakingly following all the Biblical doctrines and fulfilling what is expected from a true Christian, one will inherit the said new heaven and the new earth (Matthew 25:34) – exactly the same procedure as mentioned in the last sentence of the previous paragraph.
See all these similarities? Developer may say all these are coincidental, but the methods and procedures mentioned above all have been exactly the same as what the God of the Bible says thru the words written in it. And this fact actually inspires me to work both in the real estate industry and to work for my own salvation, to inherit the new home, the promised place of Jesus Christ. And I encourage my fellow practitioners to do both – not only to successfully close real estate deals, but to also successfully secure a place in the God’s promised kingdom by obeying His will as written in the Holy Scriptures, called the Bible.
